A complete offline AI system

Each unit is supplied as the same established package, combining the hardware, software, voice, knowledge, visual, memory, and automation systems developed for Skipper.
To maintain reliability and make support straightforward, Skipper is currently offered in a single standard configuration rather than as a collection of individually customised options.

What Skipper supports
Skipper is supplied as a complete local assistant platform with the hardware, software and tools needed to build a system around your own environment.
It includes support for:
- Voice and written chat
- Spoken responses and hands-free interaction
- Locally stored knowledge and document search
- Offline English Wikipedia reference library
- Conversation memory and personalisation
- Visual recognition of familiar objects
- Reminders, alarms and notifications
- Proactive comments and event-based assistance
- Local system controls and status information
- Operation without cloud-based AI services
Skipper includes an offline English Wikipedia reference library, allowing general topics to be searched without an internet connection.
Beyond this general reference source, Skipper is intentionally not filled with a large collection of unrelated manuals, documents or specialist information.
A new system contains only essential configuration and example content intended to demonstrate how its features work. Its practical and specialist knowledge is added and curated by the owner.
You decide which documents, procedures, records and areas of knowledge are relevant. Skipper then provides the tools to organize, search, retrieve and discuss that information locally.
This means every Skipper installation can become different. One may be built around marine equipment and sailing safety, while another may focus on a remote home, workshop, vehicle, expedition or specialist field.
Skipper does not arrive pretending to know everything. It arrives ready to become knowledgeable about the things that matter to you.
Further details about these capabilities can be found on the Features page.
No unnecessary knowledge bloat
Skipper includes an offline Wikipedia reference library for broad general knowledge, but it does not arrive filled with thousands of unrelated manuals and documents you did not request.
Its specialist knowledge base is built deliberately around your own information, priorities and environment.
What is included
Each Skipper package includes the components required for the standard system:
- Skipper central processing unit
- Display and user interface

Designed as one complete system
Skipper is not supplied as software for installation on an arbitrary computer.

Offering one standard package also makes the system easier to maintain, document, update, and support.

Installation and operation
Skipper is designed as a dedicated assistant for a defined environment such as a boat, remote home, cabin, workshop, expedition base or regularly used travel setup.
The central system requires a suitable protected position, access to power, and practical placement of its display, microphone, speaker, and camera.
Once installed, Skipper’s core AI, voice, knowledge, memory and visual functions operate locally without requiring an internet connection.
Internet access is not required for Skipper’s core AI, voice, knowledge and memory functions, although it may be used for updates, support and optional online information where available.
Installation requirements and placement guidance are provided with the system.
