Each system combines the hardware, software, voice, knowledge, visual, memory and automation systems developed for Skipper into one prepared and tested package.
Rather than offering a collection of different hardware configurations, Skipper is currently supplied as one established standard system. This keeps installation, documentation, maintenance and support straightforward while providing a consistent platform that can be adapted through its knowledge, settings and environment.

Skipper is supplied as a complete local assistant platform with the hardware, software and tools needed to build a system around your own environment.

Skipper includes an offline English Wikipedia reference library, providing a broad source of general information without requiring an internet connection.
Its specialist knowledge, however, is deliberately built around the information that is relevant to its owner.
A new system contains essential configuration and example content intended to demonstrate how its features work. It does not arrive filled with thousands of unrelated manuals, documents or specialist materials.
You decide which documents, procedures, records and areas of knowledge are useful. Skipper provides the tools to organise, search, retrieve and discuss that information locally.
This means every Skipper installation can develop differently. One may be built around marine equipment and sailing safety, while another may focus on a remote home, workshop, vehicle, expedition or specialist field.
If required, selected knowledge can also be prepared and loaded before delivery. This can include your own documents, procedures and other information that you provide or are authorised to use.

Skipper does not arrive pretending to know everything. It arrives ready to become knowledgeable about the things that matter to you.

Skipper enclosure
Skipper is supplied as one complete system, including its protective enclosure.
The original Skipper systems use the practical 3D-printed enclosure shown in earlier development and demonstration material. As the system continues to evolve, newer units may also use a handcrafted wooden enclosure developed specifically for Skipper.
The enclosure is part of the complete system rather than a separate hardware configuration. Changes in enclosure material or construction do not alter Skipper's internal hardware, software or supported functionality.
Because Skipper is produced in small batches, some physical details and finishes may evolve between production runs. The enclosure supplied with a system will be confirmed before ordering.
Where a substantially customised enclosure or installation is requested, this can be discussed separately.
Designed as one complete system
Skipper is not supplied as software for installation on an arbitrary computer.
Its hardware and software are prepared, configured and tested together as one complete system. This allows the voice, camera, display, knowledge, memory and automation features to operate within a known and supported environment.
The standardised core system also makes Skipper easier to maintain, document, update and support.

Installation and operation
Skipper is designed as a dedicated assistant for a defined environment such as a boat, remote home, cabin, workshop, expedition base or regularly used travel setup.
The central system requires a suitable protected position, access to power and practical placement of its display, microphone, speaker and cameras.
Once installed, Skipper's core AI, voice, knowledge, memory and visual functions operate locally without requiring an internet connection.
Internet access is not required for Skipper's core AI, voice, knowledge and memory functions. Connectivity may still be used for updates, support and optional online information where available.

Skipper is produced in limited small batches, with each system prepared, configured and tested before delivery.
The current price of the complete standard Skipper system is €3,995 excluding VAT and delivery.
This includes the complete Skipper system, preinstalled software, system configuration and the components described above.
Availability can vary depending on current stock and component supply. Some systems may be available immediately, while others may require preparation before delivery.
